We use personal data to:

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use personal data for unrelated third-party advertising networks on the FloorMate product surfaces described in this policy.
5. Legal basis and consent (India)
FloorMate is offered primarily for users in India. Where the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (and rules made under it) apply, we process personal data for the purposes described in this policy based on your consent and/or other permitted grounds under applicable law (for example to provide a requested service, ensure security, or comply with legal obligations).
You may withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, subject to legal or contractual limits (for example, we may still retain records we are required to keep, or data needed to complete an ongoing service you requested).
6. Building admins and shared spaces
FloorMate is a multi-user neighbourhood and building tool. People with elevated roles (such as building admins or flat heads) may see or manage information within the scope of their permissions. You should only add personal data about others if you have a lawful basis to do so and the information is appropriate for building operations.
Building admins are responsible for how they configure their building, what they record, and how they communicate with residents using FloorMate. If you believe another user has entered your data incorrectly or without authority, contact that building’s admin and/or email info@floormate.online.
7. Sharing and processors
We may share personal data with:
- Other users in your building or household, according to role and feature permissions
- Service providers who help us host, authenticate, send messages, store data, monitor uptime, or process payments — only as needed to operate FloorMate
- Identity and messaging providers (for example Firebase for phone/email authentication, and Meta WhatsApp Cloud API where WhatsApp delivery is configured)
- Authorities or third parties when required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or security
- Successors in connection with a merger, acquisition, or restructuring, subject to appropriate safeguards
Processors are expected to handle personal data only on our instructions and with appropriate confidentiality and security measures. Some providers may process data on servers outside India. Where that happens, we take steps available to us under applicable law and provider contracts.
8. Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as needed for the purposes in this policy, including to provide the service, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, or accounting requirements. Retention periods vary by data type and building configuration. When data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably practicable.
9. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or alteration. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please protect your devices and login credentials, and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
10. Your choices and rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request to:
- Access personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data
- Delete personal data, where legally permitted
- Withdraw consent for consent-based processing
- Raise a grievance about how we handle your personal data
To make a request, email info@floormate.online with enough detail for us to verify your identity and understand the request. We may refuse or limit requests where the law allows (for example, where deletion would break mandatory records, or where another person’s rights would be harmed).
You can also manage many profile and notification settings directly in the FloorMate app where those controls are available.
11. Children
FloorMate is intended for adults who manage or participate in building and neighbourhood life. We do not knowingly create accounts for children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact info@floormate.online and we will take appropriate steps.
12. Third-party links and services
The website or app may link to third-party sites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We are not responsible for third-party content or practices.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Material changes may also be communicated through the website, app, or email where appropriate. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy, to the extent permitted by law.
